Don Imus didn’t hold back on Craig Carton and Mike Francesa

One of WFAN’s radio rivals saw an opportunity to kick Craig Carton while he is down, and worked in a couple of body blows at Mike Francesa as well.

Don Imus and Sid Rosenꦅberg, on WABC, took shots at both WFAN personalities. Carton was arrested Wednesday by the FBI f🎃or his alleged involvement in a ticket scam.

Rosenberg opened a segment dedicated to s﷽ports news of the day by mentioning the Patriots and Chiefs begin the NFL season Thurs🎐day night.

“What’s the point spread on that?” Imus asked.

“Just in case Carton is listening,” Bernard McGuirk, Imus’ producer, quipped.

While they were discussing the nature of Carton’s alleged crimes, Imus provided a morbid observation.

“He’s going to get whacked,” Imus said.

“He could get whacked,” Rosenberg replied.

Rosenberg proceeded to talk about what he sees as Carton’s gambling addiction, and mentioned Imus’ recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. He said Imus could appreciate Carton’s plight.

“Well, I don’t,” Imus said. “I should have stopped drinking and doing cocaine when someone first mentioned it me. But I was an a–hole, wasn’t I?”

Rosenberg noted that Imus stopped, but some people can’t.

“Yeah, they can. Stop it,” Imus retorted.

“OK, F him,” Rosenberg said.

Later in the show, they decided to replay Francesa’s comments about Carton’s situation.

“Is English a foreign language for him?” Imus asked after Francesa’s meandering non-statement about WFAN’s statement ended.

As they discussed the situation further, Imus asked, “Didn’t this Glen guy give [Francesa] a hard time?”

Imus, apparently not aware that Carton’s first name is Craig, needed to be corrected. Then, after Rosenberg said that Carton and Boomer Esiason have been ripping Francesa on their show for a long time, Imus used the moment to reflect on working for disgraced Fox News czar Roger Ailes.

“That’s the first thing Roger told me when I went to work for him. He said, ‘We’re not going to p-word in the tent, Imus,'” he said. “‘If you want to make fun of somebody, make fun of somebody else.'”
