Clowns say ‘It’ movie is ‘killing their business’

Clowns are terrified of the new Stephen King horror movie “It” ā€” as they fear it could kill their business.

They say its child-murdering star Pennywise is scaring parents wšŸŽ¶ho are cancelling bookings.

Entertainer Tommy Bungle ā€” whose industry is still reeling from last year’s ā€œkiller clownā€ craze ā€” said his bookings have already fallen by a third since “It” came out last week.

Tommy, reā™Šal name Malcolm Singleton, 62, of Darlington, said: ā€œPeople see a clown and think theyā€™re evil killers. The film is another nail in the coffin for the clown industryšŸ‘.

ā€œAdults are saying, ā€˜We donā€™t like clownsā€™ and that affects thšŸ§øe children.ā€

Rob Bowker, 51, from Tamworth, Staffs, who performs as Bibbledy Bob, added: ā€œ’It’ is nothing to do with clowning and everything to do with a cheap Hollywood movie raking in millions. Iā€™ve seen it and I prefer Disney.ā€

World Clown Association boss Pam Moody has said the movie ā€” based on Kingā€™s 1986 book ā€” had led to kidsā€™ shows bāœ…eing cancelled.

: ā€œKids haą¼’ve always been scared of clownź¦†s. Donā€™t kill the messengers for the message.ā€

The film, previously made into a TV šŸŒŗmini-series in 1990, grossed $116.4 million in its first weekend in US and Canada ā€” a horror flick record.

It comes after armed pranksters dressed as clowns caused terror in the US and šŸ’ÆBritain lastšŸ’œ year.
