A Brooklyn federal court judge has ordered a psychiatric exam for “pharma felon” Martin Shkreli, court records show.
The order comes as the 34-year-old disgraced pharmaceuticals exec languishes in a maximum security jail in Brooklyn after Judge Kiyo Matsumoto ordered his $5 million bond revoked for a Facebook post offering $5,000 per strand of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s hair.
The order is not public, and it therefore remains unclear who ordered it, or why. It also remains unclear what, exactly, was ordered.
A former employee testified during Shkreli’s securities fraud trial that the internet troll was “mentally unstable.” He was convicted on two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud in August.
Shkreli was jailed last Wednesday after Matsumoto found the hair-bounty a credible threat, and deemed the loudmouth a danger to society.
His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 16. He faces up to 20 years behind bars.
Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo declined to comment on the order.
