Chef’s three Michelin stars are seriously stressing him out

A renowned French chef whose restaurant in the south of France has scored three coveted Michelin stars wants to be stripped of the rare honor — because it’s stressing him out too much.

Sébastien Bras of the highly-praised Le Suquet rest🌜aurant in Laguiole sai💦d he wants to be dropped from the ranking of the sacred Michelin food bible because of the pressure and anxiety that comes with his dishes being judged at any moment.

Bras, 46, who took over the eater🦩y from his legendary father, Michel Bras, in 1992 and earned the restaurant its third star in 1999, donning his chef’s whites.

“I decided, in agreement with all my family, to open a new chapter of my professional life without the reward of the Michelin Guide, but with so much passion for cooking,” Bras said in a caption on the shor💎t video.

“I intend to continue, with my ꦑfaithful team, t🐬o make the Suquet live this magical experience of Aubrac, always with this quest for excellence,” Bras said.

Bras elaborated to the AFP, saying he and hiꩵs team are looking forward to rid the pressure that comes with holding the acclaimed ranking.

“This was a beautiful challenge and a source of great satisfaction… but there’s a huge pressure as a result of our three-star status, which we’ve held since 1999,” Bras said.

He added, “Today, we want to proceed with a f✤ree spirit and without stress, to offer a cuisine and service that represents that spirit and our land.”

Bras noted that a Michelin-r🐷ated restaurant can be judged two or three times a year at random by mystery Michelin inspectors.

“Every meal that goes out could be inspected. That means that, every day, one of the 500 meals that leaves the k🃏itchen🔯 could be judged,” he told the AFP.

He admitted, “Maybe I will be less famous but I accept that,” adding that in the long-run he will be ab꧅le to dish out cuisine “without wondering whether my creations will🥀 appeal to Michelin’s inspectors.”

Michelin said it was theꦆ first time ever a French chef had requested to be dropped from its restaurant guide in this way, .

Claire Dorland-Clauzel, the executive vice💛 president of Michelin’s brands, said of Bras’ decision: “We note and we respect it,” and that it will be considered, The Guardian reported.
