Dejected Jets kicker takes all the blame for disastrous day

Speaking after the Jets’ 25-20 loss to the Falcons at MetLife Stadium, Chandler Catanzaro used the same two words over and ov♈er aga🔥in: No excuses.

Catanzaro, who came into the game 11-of-13 on field goal attempts, missed two makeable ones on Sunday — a 46-yarder and a 48-yarder.

T𒁃here was heavy rain and wind throughout the day, but Catanzaro refused to attribu💯te his struggles to the brutal weather conditions.

“No ex🌺cuse,” Catanzaro said. “Teammates are counting on me to put it through the two ye♓llow pipes, and I didn’t do that today.

“Left six points out there, and obviously the margin was five so … I got to put it through the pipes. Nothing else to say really. Feel bad for my teammates.”

Catanzaro’s first miss came early on, after a Matt Ryan fumble set up the Jets in Atlanta territory. It would have put Gang Green up 10-0 less than sevenไ minutes in.

Instead, the🔯 momentum swung as the Falcons drove 64 yards to tie the score 7-7.

In the opening minute of the fourth, with the Jets leading 17-16, Catanzaro again misfired, this time from 48. On the very next play, running back Tevin Coleman broke free for a 52-yard gain to set up Atlanta♕ in the red zone.

“I actually hit them pretty good on contact,” Catanzaro explained. “They just hung out there to the right and didn’༺t come back for me.”

Catanzaro did manage to convert two other tries, from 43 and 46. The Falcons’ Matt Bryജant was a perfect 4-for-4.

Asked whether he thought the rain was a🧸 factor for Ca⛎tanzaro, coach Todd Bowles said: “They had the same situation we had. We have to make those kicks.”

Bowles added he still has con🍨fidence in his ki𝔉cker.

“I’ve had a tough game before,” Catanzaro said. “I just have to𝓡 prepare as well as I can and give myself the best chance to succeed [next game].”
