Texas church killer Devin Kelley once told a former Air Force collšeague that he bought dogs on Craigslist to use as ātarget practice,ā accordš¦ing to a report.
Jessika Edwards, at Holloman Air Force Base išn New Mexico from 2010 to 2012, said Kelley made his sick admission on Facebook in 2014 after they reconnected as civilians.
Edwards, who stopped communicatišng with Kelley after learning of his barbaric acts, said he also exhibited a macabre fascination with mass murders while serving as an airman.
“He would make jokes about wanting to kill somebody,” Edwards recalled. “And we would say, ‘Wait, that’s not funny.'”
A law enfošrcement source confirmed to CNN that FBI agents interviewed Edwards about her interactions with Kelley.
“He was always getting into trouble,” she said. “It was problem after problem.”
After Kelley was court-martialed and convicted in 2012 for assaulting his wife and fracturing his stepsonās head, he started showing up depressed, Edwards said.
“He threatened to kill himself one time if I didn’t let him go see a chaplain,” according to Edwards, who said she was a staff sergeant and supervised Kelley.
The Air Force has come under fire for failing to notify federal law enforcement officials of Kelley’s conviction, for which he served time in jail bšefore being booted from the service for bad conš²duct.
Had the feds been aware, Kelley should have been barred from legally purchasing the weapon he used in the massacre at ź¦the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs.
Kelley also spoke glowingly of Dylann Roof, who killed nine people in a South Carolina chušŗrch in June 2015, Edwards said.
“He would say, ‘Isn’t it cool? Did you watch the news?'” Edwards told CNN. “He would say he wished he had the nerve to do it, but all he would be able to do is kill animals.”
In 2014, Kelley was accused of striking a dog in Colorado. Hše pleaded guilty to animal cruelty, but the case was dismissed after he paid fines, according to court documents.
