First snowfall of the season blankets NYC
The first snowfall of ♕the season helped sparkℱ some holiday cheer for New Yorkers Saturday, but the festive feeling may not last for long.
The next storm is rolling toꦰward the Big Apple to slush up Tuesday morning’s commute.
A storm moving through the Great Lakes is likely to bring another inch or two overnight Moꦺnday, said AccuWeather meteorologist Rob Miller. By Tuesday morning, temperatures may rise into the 40s, high enough to turn whatever’s left to rain and make for a sloppy rush h⛦our.
That storm will be followed by a blast of colder air expected to last through next weekend, wit♎h high temperatures not even hitting 30 degrees on Wedn🐠esday.
Whateverꦿ the week has in store, it was the magic of the first flakes that was on the minds of New Yorkers and tourists Saturday.
“It puts me in the mood of the season and the happiness that comes with it,” said Heather Brennan, 25, a retail worker originally fro♉m Toronto. “You know Christmas is around the c🍎orner.”
Cabdriver Ermias Joseph, 44, of Harlem, knew how much his children would enjoy t🏅he storm.
“It isn’t gooꩵd for business because people stay in,” he said. “But my kids love the snow . . . So I am haꦬppy to have the snow, for them.”
“It’s exciting,” ✅said Giulia Cecci, 23, originally from Italy, who was showing the city to a visiting friend, Carlotta Volpi, 23. “It’s like magic.”
