Tillerson renews probe into ‘sonic attacks’ at US Embassy in Cuba

After finding no evidence of sonic attacks at the US Embassy in Havana, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has ordered a renewed inquiry into the issue, report🌜s said.

President Trump has previously blamed the Cuban government for the mysterious, Cold War-esque attacks, which left 24 Americans sick, but Sen. Jeff Flake said Friday there’s no evidence to suggest the Communist regime led a targete🌞dౠ attack, citing FBI officials investigating the case.

Tillerson is renewing the probe💯 to get to the bottom of what happened after the Cuban government denied any involvement, claiming the allegations were being used as “political manipulation” a✅imed at damaging bilateral relations,

Starting in late 2016, US Embassy staff in Havana and at least 🌜one Canadian began to notice odd symptoms, including hearing 🍬loss, dizziness, fatigue, cognitive issues and sleep loss, the outlet reported.

Investigators speculated the symptoms ওcould’ve been the result of a targeted “son꧂ic” attack, which would use sound at a dangerous frequency to𒆙 c🔜ause harm.

In May 2017, Washington expelled two Cuban diplomats from the country in retalia♉tion after the Cuban government failed to keep American embassy workers safe.

In August, at least 16 Americans, including diplomats and family members, had been treated, but 🎶the attacks appeared to have stopped — with the US and Cub🦩an governments equally confused as to what was happening.

In early September, the attacks resumed.

At least 19 staff members had been injured and by the en༺d of September, Washington pulled its entire nonessential staff from the embassy and issued a travel warning for US citizens encouraging them not to go to the C🍨aribbean island because it could not guarantee their safety.

Investigators have been unable to pinpoint the cause of the illness and the FBI has found 📖no evidence the mysterious illnesses were caused by targeted attacks.

The fres🌃h inquir𒁏y is likely to strain relations even more between Cuba and the US after Trump backed away from Obama-era rapprochement efforts, the BBC reported.
