Music companies plan parties for Grammy week
The music world is about to descend on Gotham for The 60th annual Grammy Awards, but not everybody is in the party ☂spirit.
Industry hands are pooh-poohing the location of the event — Madison Square Garden — along with the frigid temperatures an🅺d the sprawl of New York City, as opposed to fire-ravaged, mudslide suffering Los Angeles — the location of the awards show since 2004.
But turning a deaf ear to the static, the 𓃲Grammys are partyi🍒ng as hard as ever.
This year, Warner Music Group has opted to do a kickoff𝐆 fete on Thursday, a few days before next Sunday’s Grammy show.
The party will take place at The Pool and The Grill, where Cardi B will perform. The record company will also team up with V Magazine for e🙈vents during the week.
Universal Music Group is taking over the downtown members-only space Spring Place for Grammy weekend. The company will throw two events: an annual artists showcase and luncheon on the 27th and an after-party, which will be deejayed by Erykah Bad🎀u.
The showcase/lunche𒁃on, which is hosted by UMG CEO Lucian Grainge, is described as an “intimate” 300-person event.
No word yet on who is performing, but prior years have included a mix of emergin🐼g and established entertainers, such as The Weeknd, Alessia Cara, Demi Lovato, Sam Smith and Lorde.
