Man found dead after apparently ‘huffing’: cops

A Manhattan man was found dead in his home on Saturday afternoon — with nearly two dozen cans around his body — after apparently huffing compressed air, police said on Sunday.

The 32-year-old was discovered by a friend lying face down on t💞he couch insiꦉde his apartment on East 50th Street near Second Avenue in Midtown around 2 p.m, cops said. When police arrived, they found 22 aerosol cans near his body and one in his mouth, which he appeared to be huffing, a police source said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Huffing” describes the act of inhaling compressed air to experience “an immediate rush of euphoria as well as possible hallucinations and delusions,” according to American Addiction Centers. Side effects can include seizures, suffocation and even fatal heart failure — known as “sudden sniffing death.”

Police said no criminality is suspected. The Office of the Chief Medical Examin🌺er will determine the cause of death.
