Silvio “Bunga Bunga” Berlusconi got an eyeful of bare breasts Sunday — when a topless protester confronted the former Italian prime minister at the ballot box during the country’s contentious election.
Just seconds after the playboy ex-PM cast his vote, the au natural activist — with “Berlusconi, your time has run out” scrawled across her chest and the name of Ukrainian radical feminist group Femen on her back — jumped on a table in front him and waved her arms in the air.
Burlesconi was quickly hustled out of the room, and the boob-baring activist was then hauled away by polic꧒e.
The 81-year-old left his office in disgrace in 2011 amid the country’s debt crisis and accusations that he slept with an underage prostitute at one of his debauched “bunga bunga” parties.
He can’t hold office for another year due to a tax fraud conviction, but remains president of the Forza Italia party, which is one of several center-right parties most likely to form a coalition government in the election.
They’ve capitalized on a wave of anti-immigrant sentiment roiling the country in a campaign marked by neo-fascist rhetoric and racist violence, culminating in a far-right extremist wounding six African men in a shooting spree last month.
But the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement party looks likely to score the single largest number of votes on the back of widespread discontent over high unemployment and a lagging economy — just not enough votes to form a government on its own.
Rather than bare breasts, everyday Italians faced long lines at polling sites, with👍💜 ballot delivery problems at some locations delaying voting for hours.
