Getting the MTA to pay for a new paint job
Dear John: The MTA spilled liquid chemicals from the overhead train tracks onto my new car Nov. 11, 2017.
A note was left from the MTA (admitting fault), and the paint is now damaged. The repair estimate is $3,485. I submitted a claim to the MTA but haven’t heard anything back.
It is now 2018. I’ve exhausted all resources available, but I still don’t know the status of my claim or when an inspector will schedule an appointment to view the damages. D.F.
Dear D.F.: This is going to make you laugh. The MTA didn’t know😼 how to reach you.
Since I reached out,꧂ now it has your e-mail address. You should have already hear🌼d from it.
“Thank you for reaching out to Transit on Ms. F’s behalf. Even though the claim ♊form asks for it, (she) did not provide us with contact information. Thanks to your forwarding her note to you to us,” said my contacﷺt at the MTA.
“I now🍸 have her phone number and e-mail address and will be giving her contact information to the adjuster,” he added.
You’llꩵ have a new paint job for the spring. And donꦚ’t park under elevated train tracks.
