Nikolas Cruz’s brother: I went to Stoneman to ‘take it all in’

The younger brother of accused mass murderer Nikolas Cruz nonchalantly told cops he “wanted to kind of take it all in” as he was busted for trespassing at the Florida high school where authorities say his brother slaughtered 17 people, newly released bodycam footage shows.

The video,♌ released Friday by the Broward County Sheriff’s office, shows deputies cuffing a relaxed Zachary Cruz, clad in a black baseball cap and white Hurley T-shirt as he sits on a well-manicured lawn near Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Par🍒kland on Monday.

The officers ask for his backpack to search, which he readily hands over and explains contains “a lot of extra clothes.”

Cruz, who was carrying a skateboard and a sports drink, w꧟as initially taken to the Brow✱ard County Jail and was hospitalized for a mental health evaluation. He is still being held on $500,000 bail.

Law enforcement officials are seeking to remove his access to guns and♛ ammunition undℱer the state’s new risk protection law.

Prosecutors said Tuesday that Cruz was heard bragging to other inmates that he aimed to cash in on his brother’s notoriety.

“There is discussion of starting some sort of pen pal or fan club and how many girls he is capable of attracting, referring to his brother Nikolas,” Assistant State Attorney Saranell Murphys said.

Zachary Cruz’s attorney protested ♕his bail amount.

“He did not say or do anything that would even remotely suggest he was a threat to anyone. This video fully💜 supports our position that Zachary should not be incarcerated and we are hopeful for his quick release,” Joseph Kimok .
