‘Shawskank’ escapee is moved to new prison after hunger strike

Following a five-month hunger strike, allegations of attempted poisoning and a bizarre incident in which he blamed iced tea when his fiancĆ©e was caught touching his junk during a jailhouse visit, David Sweź¦«at has finally been transferred out of Attica Correctional Facility to Wende Correctional Facility, the New Yoą½§rk State Department of Corrections confirmed Friday.

Sweat, 37, who famously made a mockery of New York after he led hundreds of cops on a $23 million manhunt follošŸŒ wing a prison break, has been pushing ź¦°for a transfer ever since he was brought to the notorious upstate prison.

He said in March the guards had threatened to poison his food and retališŸ·ated against him for making complaints about their conduct, which led him to go on the hunger strike.

Looking gaunt in his hunter green uniform, Sweat told The Post he šŸ™ˆwas in fear for his life and could only drink Ensure-type nutritional shakes that were opened in front of him to guarantee they hadnā€™t been tainted.

In a visit shortly after his fiancĆ©eā€™s visiting rights were revoked becaušŸ¦©se she was allegedly caught touching his groin, Sweat exclusively told The Post heā€™d drunk three bottles of iced tea and was touching his privates because he ā€œneeded to pee.ā€

His fiancĆ©e, Fran Malanik, claimešŸŒžd she was inspecting a ā€œlump on his groin.ā€ Both have denied a sex act.

In a letter Sweat wrote to prison officials, which wā•as given to The Post by Malanik, the convicted murderer said he was in fear for his life.

“Since I arrived at Attica C.F. on Nov. 17, 2017, my life and food have been threatened by COs on multiple occasions,” read the letter, addressed to state Corrections Commissioner Thomas Beilein. “I see no option but to move me somewhere else so that at a minimum, I can begin eating again.”

The Department of Corrections š’ƒdenied the transfer had anything to do with Sweatā€™s hunger sšŸŒŗtrike or allegations of contempt.

ā€œBased on regular ą“œreviews, which include looking at concerns like an inmateā€™s behavior, allegiances with other inmates that could become disruptive or over-familiarity with a facility, there are approximately 5,000 inmate transfers from one prison to another every month,ā€ a spokesperson with the agency said. ā€œMr. Sweatā€™s transfer from Attica Correctional Facility to Wende Correctional Facility was consistent with this process.ā€
