The search for the wreckage of the private plane crash presumed to have killed four people — including “Builder to the Stars” Ben Krupinski — continued Sunday morning along the eastern tip of Long Island.
As strong winds and choppy surf widened the debris field, the search shifted towards South Hampton for the remnants of the Piper PA-31 Navajo that plummeted into the Atlantic about a mile off of Indian Wells Beach just before 3 p.m. Saturday.
Only two bodies had been recovered as of early Sunday, but all four of the plane’s occupants are presumed dead.
In addition to famed Hamptons home builder Krupinski, 70 — whose A-list clients included Martha Stewart and Billy Joel — those aboard included his wife, Bonnie Bistrian Krupinski, also 70; their 22-year-old grandson, Will Maerov; and pilot Jon Dollard, 47.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but locals told The Post on Saturday that a nasty storm was spotted off the coast just before the small craft went down.
New York State troopers on ATVs combed the shoreline early, as more tumult in the Atlantic pushed the search westward.
“There’s some serious riptide,” said local surfer Scott Holmes as he passed by the site. “Everything in the water is going west and it’s going to be traveling pretty fast.”
Grieving loved ones hunkered down at the Krupinski compound in East Hampton, with private security guards turning away reporters.
“They just want their privacy,” said one guard. “They’re going through a tough time right now.”
