If Donald Trump can be president, why can’t Condoleezza Rice be an NFL coach?
The former secretary of sź§tate under George W. Bush is being eyed by Browns brā ass for an interview to become head coach, according to an .
Rice would become the first woman to ā¦interview for a head-coaching job; there are three female assistant coaches in the league, but none close to taking the reins of a š¦©franchise.
In a statement, Cleveland GM John Dorsey called Rice a “a great leader [who] possesses the highest possible character and also happens to be a Browns fan.
“… Our coaching search will be thorough and deliberate, but we are still in the process of composing the list of candidates and Secretary Rice has not been discussed.”
Rice has in the past been rumored as an eveš¦©ntual candidate to become NFL commissiošÆner.
Dorsey said last week he was open to hiring a woš²man for the position vacated by the fired Hue Jackson, as Cleveland has had a merry-go-round of failed coaches this century.
While it still is nearly inconceivable Rice would get the job, the Browns could use the foot in the door to get her involved with theš organization. Rice, since being secretary of state from 2005-09, has become increasingly involved in sports, from being a member of the College Football Playoff Committee to chairing the Commission on College Basketball to try to clean up the game.
