Man who attacked cop with a meat cleaver sentenced to 20 years

An off-duty detective who tackled a madman with a meat cleaver and was left with a massive scar on his face urged a judge Thursday to lock up his assailant for 25 years — the maximum.

Det. Brian O’Donnell said his life would never be the same after his encounter with Akram Joudeh Sept. 15, 2016, but he has no regrets.

“I’ll always be proud of this scar and knowing my actions that day saved lives,” O’Donnell said, staring at Joudeh at the defense table in Manhattan Supreme Court. ဣ

Joudeh slashed his face from his temple to♓ his chin, causing permanent nerve damage and chronic𒀰 pain.

“You hit me twice with such intensity that you fractured my skull,” he said. “Your only intention that day was to try to kill me.”

Justice Robert Stolz handed down 20 years as O’Donnell,🐠 his wife and one of his three sons watc𒐪hed from the gallery. The courtroom was packed with police officers.

The brave cop was off 🤡duty when he spotted Joudeh fleeing from cops near Penn Station and wrestled him to the ground. The maniac whipped out the cleaver and hacked his face and arm.

The confrontation with cops began after Joudeh spent more than anℱ hour trying to bash an immobilization boot off the wheel of his Niss🔯an Altima.

Officers tried to stop him but he pulled the cleaver from his waistband, swung at them a🌳nd fled.
