Sen. Bob Corker took a jab at President Trump Sunday after th𝄹e commander-in-chief claimed to have ended the Tennessean’s political career by refusing to endorse him.
“Yes, just like Mexico 🃏is paying for the wall,” Corker said .
Corker, who has previously compared the White House to an “adult day care center,” then added #AlertTheDaycareStaff.
The Twitter spat comes after Corker criticized Trump on a Sunday morning talk show for mishandling the ongoing government shutdown and for pulling troops out of Syria prematurely.
While Trump campaigned on building a wall and having Mexico pay for it, the president now is “proud” to shut down the government to demand $5 billion in taxpayer funds for its construction. Corker blasted Trump’s demand as “a made-up fight, so the president can look like he’s fighting,” on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Trump, home at the White Hous💛e, lashed out on Twitter against Corker in a series of tweets.
“Bob wanted to run (fo🃏r reelection) and asked for my endorsement. I said ♍NO and the game was over. #MAGA,” .
Corker, along with Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, are the two GOP senators who are consistently willing to speak out against Trump. Both declined to run for reelection. Trump loyalist Marsha Blackburn will succeed Corker in January.
