When Diane von Furstenberg first met gšlitter-loving artist over tea in London, to discuss a coą¹llaboration for International Womenās Month, the designer admits she was taken aback by Longshoreās boldness.
āSheās a little bit over the top, but itās her,ā DVF tells Threads. āAnd she owns it and I love thaā¤t. She is very much what I preach: Be the woman you want to be.ā
In a mere two weeks, Longshšore painted a whopping 37 portraits of exceptional women who have inspired von Furstenberg. (The designerāsš° only request was that Longshore skip her famous sparkly embellishments, so the subjects could dazzle on their own.)
The works will be displayed at the store through May. Longshore, who hasš„ shown her Instagram-famous work at Bergdorf Goodman and whose celeb collectors include Blake Lively, says it was āa dreamā to work witāh von Furstenberg.
As for her next dream gig? āItās been on myļ·½ goal list for about 20 years to do a collaboration with Louis Vuitton,ā says Longshore, who owns roughly 15 LV special-edition bags, including two from the coveted Jeff Koons collab.
āIf I can afford it … I f–king buy it,ā she says. āThatās the great thing about being a modern woman.ā
