MTA pats itself on the back for fewer subway delays

Delays on subway trains dropped by nearly 20,000 in February — compared to the same month in 2018 — in a dip the MTA credits to its “action plan” and speeding up trains.

Weekday on-time performance — measured as trains that make it to their terminal stop on time —ꦏ rose from about 60 percent in February 2018 to more than 75 percent last 𝔉month, agency officials said.

Trains also broke dowꩲn less. In February 2018, trains traveled an average ofﷺ 131,798 miles between breakdowns, an increase of 3 percent over the same period in the previous year.

“This is another example that the funds invested in the Subway Action Plan by Governor Cuomo, the legislature, and city are delivering sustained improvements and tangible benefits,” said MTA president Patrick Foye, who used the announcement as a way to push for more funding for the agency.

“To keep this momentum going, we will need to secure additional and dependable revenue sources so that we can continue the work of improving our system to deliver a service our customers deserve,” said Foye.
