A beloved mothe🐻r and grandmother was fatally struck by a hit-and-run tractor-trailer driver as she crossed the street in Brooklyn on Wednesday morning🍨, police said.
Linda Douglass, 67, was crossing Flatbush Avenue near Nostrand Avenue just after 4:45 a.m. on her way to her job as a nurse aid in Harlem when she was hit by an 18-wheel flatbed truck as it barreled down Flatbush Avenue, police said.ꦍ The driver kept going — leaving Douglass, was within the crosswalk at the time, dying on the pavement, authorities said.
Douglass, who immigrated from Grenada more than 40 years ago, wa🤡s pronounced dead at the scene.
The a married mother of two who had one g🍨randson, her cousin Meryle Lane told The Posꦕt Wednesday.
“She has a very close♍ knit family, so we los꧙t a cherished woman,” Layne said.
Douglass commuted more than two hours to work each day, the grieving cousin said, and was crossing the street to get to the elevator of a nearby subway station — as she did every day — when she was struck.
“She was the average person, the average hardworking person on her way to work when she met her fate,” Layne continued. “We just…ask the person [involved] in the accident, if they could come forward…It’s unfortunate that we lost her that way.”
