Wre🌱stleMania is known to be filled with plenty of twists, turns and surprises and WrestleMania 35 at MetLife Stadium on April 7 should be no different.
WWE loaded the seven-hour plus card with 16 matches and all of its titles will be up for grabs on t🌃he grandest stage of them all with plenty of questions to be answered. Will Becky Lynch leave as the double champ? Will Seth Rollin slay The Beast? Will Kofi Kingston end his 11-year wait to win the🌌 WWE championship?
The Post’s wrestling reporter, Joseph Sꦗta𝓰szewski, gives his picks and predictions for how it will all shake out Sunday:
Kevin Owens wins the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal
Braun Strowman is the easy choice here considering his size and st🌳oryline with “Saturday Night Live” stars Colin Jost and Michael⛦ Che. A Lars Sullivan surprise is also possible, but Owens doesn’t have a scheduled match and it’s hard to see him not in this show. A K.O. win gets a big pop.
Lacey Evans wins the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal
Evans has been interrupting matches and interviews for months and had a good showing in the women’s Royal Rumble. It’s time to get her a win for her to build off of. One other possibility is some Mandy Rose-Sonya Deville angle with Rose winning at her friend’s expense.
Buddy Murphy (c.) over Tony Nese to retain the Cruiserweight championship
Unless WWE wants to throw a curveball, the cruiserweights will put on one of the better matches of 💫the night and Murphy’s reign will continue.
The Miz over Shane McMahon in a Falls Count Anywhere match
Babyface Miz is just getting started and he needs to keep going. Miz makes his dad proud again and Shane goes back to running Raw and Smackdown. Falls count anywhere means we get the seemingly obligatory crazy Sh📖ane McMahon bump at WrestleMania.
Randy Orton over A.J. Styles
WWE usually puts its guys over in these type of matches and Orton has been a lifer. There is no reason to let this feud end at one match, so Orton beats Styles with an RKO and the Phenomenal O💖ne wins the rematch.
Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder over The Revival (c.) to win the Raw tag team championships.
Curt Hawkins’ losing streak ends here. Just likeꦯ Zack Ryder won the Int👍ercontinental championship at WrestleMania 32, we get a repeat moment here as the local boys make good. But they will lose the belts the next night on Raw. (Also, congrats to Ryder on his engagement to NXT superstar and girlfriend Chelsea Green.) Big weekend for the Broski.
The Usos over Ricochet and Aleister Black, The Bar and Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev to retain the SmackDown tag team championship
Jimmy and Jey are the best tag team in WWE right now. They will drop the belts in a real feud, not multi-team madness. If the♔y do🐷 fall, look for Ricochet and Aleister Black to get their first taste of WWE gold.
Baron Corbin over Kurt Angle
Can see Angle getting a win to make the crowd happy, but youꦅ al𒆙most never win your last match. The fans are already upset Corbin is even in this match. He gets the win and all the heel heat that comes with it.
Samoa Joe (c.) over Rey Mysterio to retain the United States championship
Joe was likely winning this any way, even if Mysterio didn’t have an ankle injury. Whether it’s Mysterio or a replacement, they will push Joe to the limit but ultimately fail.
Drew McIntyre over Roman Reigns
The audience will expect Reigns’ feel-good story after winning his battle with leukemia to continue. But that would only return him to the super hero character people rejected, while a loss keeps him vulnerable and allows WWE to continue to bu💯ild McIntyre.
Sasha Banks & Bayley (c) over Beth Phoenix & Natalya, Nia Jax & Tamina Snuka and the The IIconics to retain the women’s tag team championship
A portion of the fanbase wants the IIconics to win, but it’s too early to move the belts off Banks and Bayley. The championship needs to mean something and the division needs to grow behind The Boss and Hug connection.
Finn Balor over Bobby Lashley (c.) to win the Intercontinental championship.
Balor isn’t breaking out The Demon at WrestleMania to lose to the Almighty Bobby Lashley.
Triple H over Batista in a No Holds Barred match
Sure, Triple H’s career is on the line, but he’s still got plenty of years left in the company. Triple H could use a WrestleMania victory since his last one was against Sting in 2015 and he will avenge Ric Flair. The Nature Boy could be a factor in this one.
Kofi Kingston over Daniel Bryan to win the WWE championship.
It has yet to be seen how long Kofi’s reign is, but he will get one. This is too much of a home run for WWE to mess this up (Yes, I wrote that). WWE crowns its fourth black heavyweight champion and Kofimania takes over MetLife Stadium.
Brock Lesnar (c.) over Seth Rollins to retain the Universal championship
This story neeꦍds to be told over a longer period of time. Beating Brock Lesnar needs to be a struggle. McIntyre plays a role in Seth Rollins’ loss and the Kingslayer’s title reign will have to wait. Also, if Lesnar is potentially going to get a visit from UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier it needs to be off a win and wh🀅ile holding the Universal championship.
Becky Lynch over Ronda Rousey (c.) and Charlotte Flair (c.) for the Raw and SmackDown women’s championship
Don’t rule out Rousey or Flair winning, but it’s hard to see Lynch not getting her crowning moment to end WrestleMania. The Man sends the fans home happy with two belts held high. She completes her story and gets everyone ready for a party to kickoff Raw the next night.
