Sophie Turner’s ‘Dark Phoenix’ trailer teases end of X-Men films
“Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner just can’t stop kickin’ ass on screen.
In a newly released trailer for “Dark Phoenix” — the last film slated in the X-Men series and the second adaptation of the Dark Phoenix saga for the franchise — Turner takes on the role Jean Grey, an astronaut who is struck by a dark cosmic force.
After her near-death experience, she is reborn with telekinetic powers potentially far greater than any of the X-Men, who must save a power-possessed Jean from aliens who want to take advantage of her immense abilities to take over the galaxy.
This will also be Jessica Chastain’s debut in the X-Men series, portraying a nameless shapeshifting extraterrestrial who guides Grey, or Dark Phoenix, on how to wield the newfound force.
For superheroes Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Professor X (James McAvoy), this film will most likely mark the end of their storylines. Also returning are Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp).
“Dark Phoenix” is set to hit in theaters June 7. Fans can also catch Turner as Sansa Stark Sundays on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
