Yankees bust out fog machine for an April sweep of Red Sox

The Yankees were so excited to sweep the Red Sox in April that they busted out their fog machine on Wednesday night. Yes, you heard that right, a fog machine, and apparently, it’s not the first time the Bombers used it this season, though they say it’s brought out only after key wins.

“You guys didn’t know we had a nightclub in here?” a smiling Clint Frazier told and other reporters after the Yankees’ 5-3 come-from-behind win over the Red Sox at the Stadium.

When the assembled media entered the clubhouse, there was a foggy mist hanging in the air after Brett Gardner’s clutch grand slam propelled the Yankees to a key win over their rivals. Though no Yankees players copped to who put the machine in the clubhouse, they are glad it gets brought out after hard-fought victories.

“I don’t know that it’s a player, but I’m not sure,” a cryptic Gardner said after his big blast.

Nevertheless, it is clear the Yankees — who have gotten off to a mediocre 8-9 start — like seeing the fog machine after a big victory. But that’s not all, apparently. The Bombers also bring out strobe lights and booming music from an Aaron Judge victory mixtape after recording an extra-special “W.”

“The idea was to play [the fog] after big games,” Gardner said.

Time will tell if this celebration for an April two-game sweep provides bulletin board material for the cellar-dwelling Red Sox, who fell to a woeful 6-13.

Last season, Boston drew motivation after hearing Judge blasted “New York, New York” after the Yankees’ Game 2 playoff victory. But Boston got the last laugh — and let Judge and the Yankees know it — after winning the next two games for a 3-1 series win in the American League Division Series.

For today, however, Frazier and the Yankees don’t seem to be concerned that this could reawaken the World Series champion Red Sox.

“We deserved the fog because we won a hard game out there,” Frazier said. “That was a good game. Everybody played a part in some way. It’s huge to beat the Red Sox right now.”
