The Giants may not want Dwayne Haskins, but another NFC East team’s interest is growing.
The Ohio State star quarterback , who draft at No. 15, according to ESPN.com. Washington traded for veteran Case Keenum this offseason, but still seeks a quarterback of the future and its interest in trading with the Cardinals for Josh Rosen is waning.
Haskins has become one of the more polarizing players in the draft, replaced by Kyler Murray as the top quarterback in the draft and seemingly plummeting on some draft boards. It’s unclear if the Redskins would have to trade up from the middle of the first round to get Haskins or if he would still be sitting there at No. 15.
“We needed a quarterback and we were able to trade for Case, but that does not put us out of the realm of picking a quarterback if there is one there that we like at 15,” “We don’t know who is going to be there at 15.”
The Giants, who have picks at No. 6 and 17, seemed a likely landing spot for Haskins initially, but The Post’s Paul Schwartz reported they are unlikely to take him with their first selection. And publicly general manager Dave Gettleman seems to only fall more in love with Eli Manning the older the 38-year-old quarterback gets. Drew Lock and Daniel Jones also remain possibilities as Manning’s successor, while their rivals have now homed in on Haskins.
Having Haskins succeed away from the Giants would be bad, having Haskins haunting them twice a season would be a disaster.
“There’s definitely something there,” Haskins told NFL Network on Monday of the Redskins. “I feel like there’s a great relationship with the Redskins. My mentor Shawn Springs played for the Redskins. Great relationship with [owner] Mr. [Daniel] Snyder and the rest of the Redskins ownership. Whatever team picks me, I’ll be excited to be a part of, but there’s definitely something there in D.C.”
