The Nets made the playoffs for the first time since 2015 in what amounted to a breakthrough. But Tuesday’s first-round Game 5 loss in Philadelphia brought th🌞at campaign to🌺 a close.
With a roster rife with free agents, the Nets kn꧅ow they’re going to look a lot different when they tip off next season. GM Sean Marks has a lot of decisions to make — with the big question being how much they want to give D’Angelo Russell, and what the young ꦉpoint guard is worth.
Or more to the point, how much of the cap space they’ll need to chase the likes of Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving or even Tobias Har🍷ris do they want to allocate to their own 23-year-old All-Star instead?
The Nets are quietly confident when free agency starts July 1 they’ll be players for the top targets. Even ൩if they give Russell a qualifying offer they could have $28 million to spend. 𝓀How they spend it will be the drama of the summer.
Jarrett Allen, C
Locked up through 2020-21, Jared Dudley 🎉called the 20-year-old big man the key to the franchise, and it’s probably true.
DeMarre Carroll, F
A veteran leader, b🎉ut after 𒀰making $15 million, he’s an unrestricted free agent and says his wife will decide his next stop.
Allen Crabbe, G/F
Nets surely will🐬 pick up his $18.5 m💎illion player option, but they could package a pick or young player to dump his salary.
Ed Davis, C
Earned a raise on his one-year, $4 million deꦬal. Nets can go two years years, $11 mil♕lion outside the cap using Bird Rights. Will that be enough?
Spencer Dinwiddie, G
His three-year, $34 million extension kicks in next season, and the Sixth Man of the Year ﷽candidate is still a bargain.
Jared Dudley, F
Nets rescu✱ed him from Phoenix and saved his career. Would the unrestricted free agent stick around on a minimum deal?
Treveon Graham, F
His $1.6 million for next year is non-guaranteed. With his injuries and shootin༒g woes, did he show enough?
Joe Harris, G/F
The NBA’s top 3-point shooter this se𒈔ason is still under contract for ne꧟xt. Now about beating that top-lock …
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, F
If he gets a qualifying offer, he’l▨l have a hefty $7 million cap hold, h🔥igh for a team going big-game hunting.
Rodions Kurucs, F
Locking the Latvian second-rounder up to a four-year deal throu🍎g♋h 2021-22 looks shrewd now.
Caris LeVert, G
Missed three months with a foot injury, but his hot start and finish could entice the Nets to extend him early this summer.
Dzanan Musa, G/F
The first-rounder spent most of the season in the G-League. Teams could ask for him as a sweetener inꦡ a Crabbe deal.
Shabazz Napier, G
Team holds a $1.8 million option. They’re stockওed at point guard, but his fate could depend on their Russell decision.
Theo Pinson, G/F
The two-way player was great for🍨 bench morale and got added to the roster late. He’s a restricted free agent.
D’Angelo Russell, G
A qualifying offer makes him a restricted free agent with a $21 mꦛillion cap hold an🐽d a huge factor in their summer.
