Thief steals $16,000 sculpture from Central Park art gallery

A man casually strolled into an Central Park South art gallery Thursday and walked out with a $16,000 sculpture, police said.

The brazen thief swiped the sculpture made by French artist Fred Allard about 4:30 p.m. at Galeries Bartoux, police said.

Surveillance footage released by cops shows the crook calmly walk out of the gallery while it was open to the public carrying the art piece in his left hand.

He was still at large early Saturday.

Allard is known for his collection of “Shopping bag” luxury sculptures made with crystal resin and filled with compressed objects, such as soda cans and lollipops.
