Joe Flacco channeling Eli Manning in facing new reality

Stop us if you’ve heard this before:

“Listen, I have so many things to worry about. I’m trying to go out there and play good football,” veteran quarterback says. “[Insert recently drafted quarterback’s name] is going to learn from listening to [coach] talk and then us getting the reps on the field and seeing how we all do it as a collective group of quarterbacks.”

No, that wasn’t Eli Manning divulging his thoughts on heir-apparent Daniel Jones but Joe Flacco.

Flacco, traded to the Broncos this past offseason, is already facing the same questions Manning answered before the NFL draft and will again next week for the beginning of Giants’ OTAs.

But it’s Drew Lock — not Jones — who is the subject of such prose above.

Lock, unlike Jones, fell in Denver’s lap in the second round after taking a slight dip down the board. And unlike Manning, 38, the 34-year-old Flacco is starting anew after a decade with the Ravens.

While Manning hasn’t spoken publicly since Jones became the most controversial name in New York foot🧔ball circles, here’s what he said in advance of the draft:

“Hey, I still got to do my job and do my part,” Manning said. “My job as I see it is to go out there and play quarterback and win football games and that’s what I’m trying to do.”

Even the coaches are spewing the same rhetoric.

“Th𒊎at’s on Drew to soak in and leജarn. Joe’s learning a new system himself,” Denver coach Vic Fangio said Monday.

Compared to:

“I certainly believe Eli does everything the right way behind the scenes and I certainly believe that’s something a young quarterback can value from seeing,’🥀’ Giants coach Pat Shurmur said before the draft.
