Real estate maven Barbara Corcoran said Thursday she does not believe her brother’s death in the Dominican Republic, has any connection to a recent spate of mysterious tourist deaths.
“My brother had an existing heart condition and we believe he died of natural causes,” the “Shark Tank” star on Thursday.
“I’m overwhelmed with sadness for the lost lives in the DR and my thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones.”
The millionaire investor, 70, on Wednesday that her brother John died suddenly while on vacation in the Dominican Republic and was found in his hotel suite by a friend.
Corcoran said no autopsy has been done on the New Jersey man but she was told he suffered a heart attack on April 21.
His passing shares disturbing similarities to six other American tourists who have all died under mysterious circumstances while vacationing on the island in the past year.
But Corcoran on Thursday sought to clarify any confusion about the nature of John’s death, adding: “He loved the DR and vacationed there frequently.”
Four American visitors have died in mysterious circumstances on the island in the last two months, while the families of two other tourists who died there in 2018 say they suspect their loved ones met foul play.
California man Robert Bill Wallace, 67, died several days earlier on April 14 while staying at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana.
Miranda Schaup-Werner, 41, of Pennsylvania, collapsed and died in her room on May 25 after having a drink from her minibar at the Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville in La Romana, 70 miles west of Punta Cana.
Five days later, Edward Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Day, 49, were found dead in their room at the neighboring Grand Bahia Principe resort.
In a , an Edgewater community organization announced Corcoran would be buried in the Dominican town of Bonao — which family said had “a special place in our dad’s heart.”
