Tiger Woods kept Brooks Koepka from claiming his first green jacket. The world’s No. 1 player isn’t going to help the 15-time major winner prevent him from winning his first British Open.
Koepka, who finished one shot behind Woods at the Masters and is in the midst of an incredible run in which he’s finished first or second in five of the past six majors, has a huge advantage heading into The Open Championship at Royal Portrush, which is hosting the event for the first time since 1951.
Koepka’s caddie, Ricky Elliott, is a member of Portrush, the rare course Tiger Woods has never played prior to a tournament.
So, the💎 43-year-old reached out to the 29-year-old asking for help.
“I said, ‘Hey, dude, do you mind if I tag along and play a practice rouꦫnd?’” “I’ve heard nothing.”
Even the world’s best golfer could use another edge.
“Every hole I just step up on: ‘You tell me what to do. You’ve played it more than anybody,’” Koepka said of Elliott. “So I just let him figure it out. He knows his spots to miss it, the spots to come in from. I’ll definiܫtely have a little bit more confidence having hi✃m on the bag this week, knowing this golf course so well.”
