Mom accidentally shoots daughter after she surprises her at home

An Ohio m♚om accidentally 🦋shot her teenage daughter when the girl surprised her by coming home early from college.

Hannah Jones, 18, says she “ran through the door with excitement” to surprise her family at home in Girard — instead terrifying her mom, Renee Jones, who assumed Hannah was an intruder.

“As I ran through the door, she was in fear for her life and shot me,” Jones .

“I crouched down and let out two screams,” she recalled, with her boyfriend hearing the screams and racing in to call 911.

The boyfriend told the dispatcher that Jones was bleeding “pretty bad,” according to the call .

“My girlfriend just came home from college and her mom didn’t know, like honestly — she accidentally shot her,” he said.

Showing off her injuries and X-rays, Jo🐼nes says her right elbow was broken in three places by the shooting — which left her with eight screws and three plates in her arm following surgery.

“It truly has been a crazy few days, but I am beyond thankful to still be here on this earth today,” Jones wrote.

“I sure am lucky to still be here! It still baffles my mind to know that I could be dead, but thankfully I had an angel looking over me that night.”

Girard Police Chief John Norman confi♐rmed that the mom had a concealed carry permit.

“She had a gun readily available and she fired a round at someone coming through the door,” he told 21 News.

Prosꦕecutors have yet to decide if any charges will be pressed, Norman s💎aid.

“If you realize someone has a gun for protection, and they’re not expecting you — announce yourself when you enter the home, or even if you’re getting up to get a drink of water in the middle of the night,” Norman said.
