ALBANY — New York state has received $2 million in federal 💟grant funding for tra🦹ining and equipping bomb squads across the state.
The federal Homeland Security Grant Program dollars are divided between the state’s 12 FBI-a🐈ccredited bomb squads — from New York City to Buffalo — to train responders prepping for emergencies caused by explosives or IEDs.
New York City received the bulk of the funds🐎 at $468,360, up from $404,364 awarded by the same grant in 2018.
The Westchester County bomb squad got $318,120, followed by $234,180 presented to Nassau County and $218,180 ꦗgifted to Suffolk County.
“The brave men and women who make up New York State’s local bomb squads train tirelessly to respond to any emergency without concern for their personal safety,” said Cuomo.
“These grants will help ensure our local bomb squads have the funding and resources they need to continue serving and protecting their communities, creating a safer New York for all.”
Since 2006 New York has received upwards of $21 million in homeland security f꧟unding.
