The Justice D𓃲epartment asked a federal appeals court on Friday to bar the release of President Trump’s tax returns to the Manhattan district attorney’s office, arguing that local prosecutors should have to meet a very high legal bar before investigating a sitting president.
The brief, which is , also argues that it may be an uncon🌊stitutional violation of the separation of state and federal governments for state law enforcement to assert jurisdiction over a president.
The 36-page brief is in support of Trump’s ongoing legal efforts to halt DA Cyrus Vance Jr.’s request for the president’s tax records from an accounting firm.
