Mike McCarthy isn’t expecting to be unemployed much longer.
The former Packers coach, who won a Super Bowl and went 125-77-2 in Green Bay, is already lining up a new staff and holding weekly film sessions in preparation for a return to the NFL next year, .
McCarthy, 55, was surprised when he was fired midway through his 13th season with the Packers last year, but found immediate suitors in the Jets and Browns. McCarthy reportedly had issues with each organization, and opted to sit out the season. Now, several more opportunities could arise. The Redskins have already fired Jay Gruden, and Atlanta’s Dan Quinn appears on his way out, too.
The Jets passed on McCarthy for Adam Gase, who’s under fire after a loss to the Dolphins dropped the team to 1-7.
