Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has always been synonymous with one thing: swagger.
But last night after the Browns notched their fourth straight loss, falling to the Denver Broncos 24-19, he showed up to a post-game interview looking like the walking embodiment of Cleveland’s historically downtrodden fan base.
Wearing an oversized wool overcoat, messy hair and a mustache fit for a creepy van owner, Mayfield — who started the day with a beard — looked like a millennial Uncle Buck. The 24-year-old’s trademark cockiness was seemingly in the lost and found, where he picked up the ill-fitting coat that overwhelmed his slumped shoulders.
The image was a stark contrast to preseason Mayfield, who lit the football world on fire by September issue where he wore a leather shirt, snarled as he bit a necklace with a jewel encrusted No. 6 and threw dirt on the Giants’ first-round draft pick, Daniel Jones, in the interview.
