Rep. Kevin McCarthy says Michael Bloomberg ‘a little jealous’ of Trump

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Sunday teased Michael Bloomberg over his potential presidential credentials — and claimed a White House bid by the former New York mayor would be motivated by his jealousy of President Trump.

“You have to have more than an agenda than just trying to outlaw a Big Gulp,” McCarthy said on Fox News on Sunday, referring to the former New York mayor’s doomed ban of super-sized sodas.

“You’ve gotta prove that you can actually govern,” he said dismissively.

Bloomberg’s expected bid to be the Democratic candidate is instead driven by his envy at seeing a fellow Big Apple businessman do what he always dreamed of achieving, McCarthy insisted.

“I think he’s probably a little jealous that he watched President Trump being a successful businessman going from there directly to president, and I think he wants to use his billions to try to do that,” he said.

Bloomberg was also accused Sunday by a 2020 Democratic candidate of using his wealth to drive his political aspirations.

“I think you have to earn votes and not buy them,” rival Democratic hopeful Sen. Amy Klobuchar said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

The last thing voters who are fed up with Trump would want is another mega-rich New York businessman to take his place, Klobuchar insisted.

“When people look at this White House and they see this multi-millionaire … messing up so many things, I don’t think they say, ‘Oh, we need someone richer,'” she told host Jake Tapper.

She also shot-down the suggestion that Bloomberg would only run because no other candidates seem to stand a chance in getting to the White House.

“I don’t think you just waltz in and instead of saying, ‘I’m good enough to be president’ your argument is, ‘The other people aren’t good enough,'” she said.
