New homeowner finds corpse of former resident in house

Not all housewarming gifts are welcom𒅌e. The happy buyer of a home in Maryland got more than they bargained🗹 for when they discovered the corpse of the previous owner still inside.

The new owner bought the house, on Upland Avenue in District Heights, at a foreclosure auction but only last Saturday discovered the body of the 39-year-old woman who had called the property home. It’s unclear how long she had been 𒁏dead, according to .

Police found no signs of foul play.

“As we grew up into adults, she never grew up,” a neighbor of the woman told the news outlet, noting that she had special needs. “So she needed help with things and didn’t process things as well as an adult would, even though she was an adult.”

He added that tꦚhe woman’s grandmother had cared for her. However, the grandmother died about a year ago. The woman had a caretaker, but that person had apparently stopped cominꦓg by months ago.

“Especially when her grandmother passed away, that’s what made us come over and just make sure everything was cool — she had food, she had rides to the store, things like that,” the neighbor said.

After she stopped receiving visitors, neighbors assumed that she🅺 had moved out. Soon after the foreclosure, the home’s utilities were cut.

“If we knew that she was still in there, we would have at least knocked on the door,” the neighbor said. “We would have at least asked her, ‘Is everything OK?’ ”
