NYPD patrol car plays coronavirus PSA over loudspeaker at NYC park

The NYPD is blastiꦬng public service announcements about social distancing over patrol car loudspeakers in order to keep people from congregating amid coronavirus, video posted by the department shows.

The clip, shared to Twitter by Chief o🃏f Patrol Fausto Pichardo on Tuesday, shows a patrol ꦿcar blasting the PSA as it roams through the relatively empty John V. Lindsay East River Park on the Lower East Side.

“This is the New York City Police Department,” the recorded message begins. “Due to the current health emergency, members of the public are reminded to keep a safe distance of 6 feet from others while in public places to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.”

Two joggers pass the patrol car — more than 6 feet apart — during the broadcast.

“Please help us keep you safe, thank you for your cooperation,” the announcement ends.

As of Wednesday morning, City Hall reported 17,856 cases diagnosed cases and 199 deaths.
