The Colorado Avalanche are the latest sports team to announce a player has received a positive test for the coronavirus. An unidentified player has tested positive for the virus, the Avalanche said in a statement released on the team’s website.
The Avalanche said the player has fully recovered and had been in self-isolation since encountering the initial symptoms of the virus. The team notified anyone who has been in contact wšith the player.
āThe health and safety of our players, staff, fans, and community remains our highest priority,ā the Avalanche . āThe Avalšanche organization will continue to work in conjunction with our medical staff and public health officials to do everything we can to help the Avalancheš community remain safe and healthy during this time.ā
It is the third known case in the NHL, following Saturdayās news that two players on the Ottawa Senators, who have not been identified, tested positive for COVID-19.
This may be the first case where two teams sharing the same playing facility had personnel dealing with coronavirus symptoms. The Denver Nuggets released a statement that a person had experienced symptoms consistentš with the coronavirus on March 16 and is undergoing medical care in self-isolationā¤. The Avalanche and the Nuggets both play in the Pepsi Center in Denver.
