Pete Alonso, fiancée Haley Walsh launch ‘above and beyond’ Homers for Heroes

Not all o✨f Pete Alonso’s home runs happ🐎en in the ballpark.

Alonso kicked off his new foundation, Homers for Heroes, along with his fiancée Haley Walsh on Wednesday. The NL Roo🌞kie of the Year proved last season he knows how to get things done, with 53 home runs and 120 RBIs for the Mets.

The slugging first bas𝕴eman wants to recognize teachers, coaches, first responders, anyone who makes a positive difference, especially now in this coronavirus pandemic world.

“So many people have impacted my life in such a positive way, and I am forev💛er grateful for t൲hose people,’’ Alonso told The Post from his home in Tampa, Fla.

“What really started the spark was the Home Run Derby [last year] and doing a donation for Tunnels to Towers and the Wounded Warrior Project. Those two organizations introduced me to the p📖eople who were directly affected by my donation and seeing the amount of impact on the families and the people we helped,ꦬ it was like, ‘Wow, it’s awesome to have this kind of impact on people.’

“After going through that process, Haley and I wanted to help anyone who is considered a hero,’’ Alonso sജaid. “There🥂 are so many people in our lives — coaches, teachers, first responders or military, or it could be someone who is doing something in the world of ecological conservation We are raising money to support and thank the everyday heroes of this pandemic and also those who continue to take care of each other.

“It’s whoever is going above and beyond the call of duty, and they are not asking f🧸or anything in return’’ he said. “We want to recognize those people, we want to bring their causes, their mission to life and we want to inspire others to help out as𓄧 well.

“It just takes one person to change someone’s life, and if you 𒈔impact one person’s life and make their life better, you a𒈔re considered a hero, that’s what is really heroic,’’ Alonso said.

“This speaks mainly to who Pete is as a person and him understanding the great impact he can have off the field as well asꦑ on i🐭t,” Mets COO Jeff Wilpon said.

Alonso is wꦦorking out with several teammates in Tampa and h🌃itting with Mets assistant hitting coach Tom Slater.

“I’ve been running on my own and doing a lot of ho🦹me wꦦorkouts just to be ready,’’ he said. “You just never know when we will get the thumbs up.’’

Alonso is on board with any MLB plan — Arizona, Florida, Texas or🐷 any combination — to get back to work𓂃.

“Whatever is the most efficient, quickest and safest way to play, I’m fine with that,’’ he said. “When sports start back up, I think that is going to give a ton of people a sigh of relief. It will give us a little comfort that it is ꧅going to be OK.

“This pandemic is so layered. Schools are shut do🐬wn and kids aren’t getting meals. People are losing jobs. It’s affecting everything — our health, our economy, our health care system, everyday in how we live. There are so many different dynamics to this whole pandemic, it’s not just a natural disaster.

“Because in a natural disaster, like say a hurricane coming through, you fix the buildings, you get the water out of the streets, you get the infrastruct﷽ure right and then you move on, it’s over,’’ Alonso said. “This is global. There areᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ so many ways of life have been affected. It’s going to be different to what we are used to moving forward.’’

The found𓃲ation will be there to help on a grass roo🅷ts level.

“If someone is working their tail off around the clock to help others, working in the shadows, we want to recognize them,’’ Alonso said. “And through the launch, we are going to pl💛edge an additional $10,000 just to show gratitude to those doing heroic wor𝓡k.

“Our website is pretty detailed for anyone who ♏wants more information🤪 and you can join. Every month there are going to be new nominations for heroes,” Alonso said. “This is about real-life heroes. No one is in spandex, flying over cities and keeping aliens away. This is the real world. At the end of the day, the real life superheroes, they’re us.’’

Heroes among us. P⭕ete and Haley want the spotl♑ight to shine on those everyday heroes.
