Las Vegas police fatally shoot man holding samurai sword, footage shows

Las Vegas police 💖released dramatic body camera footage showing 🍸the moment an officer fatally shoots a man who charged at him with a samurai sword.

The video captures Las Vegas Metropolitan Police💝 Department officer Vincent Segura 🥃pumping three bullets into 40-year-old Justin Charland at the Sandhill Apartments complex about 11 a.m. last Tuesday.

The footage begins with Segura trying to reason with Ch🥃arland, who’s ranting loudly while wielding the 34-inch blade on an outdoor staircase.

“Why are you upset today, Justin?” Segura asks. “I’m trying to understanඣd. I want to talk to you. I want to get you some help.”

Charland has a history of mental health issues and had three prior arrests dating back to 2003, Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Sheriff Brett Zimꦇmerman said 𒆙where the video was released.

In the video, Charland refuses Segura’s demands to drop the sword. Charland instead replies, “No, I will die.”

C🐼harland eventually descends the steps and makes his way towa🍷rd Segura, telling the officer to “shoot me” and claiming he’s a ninja.

The man then repeatedly shouts “run” asꦛ Segﷺura backs away from him before opening fire.
