The pairing first met at UFC 226 in July 2018, when Cormier, then the light heavyweight champion, returned to heavyweight and captured the title in a first-round KO victory. Miocic avenged the loss in their second meeting at UFC 241 in August 2019 with a fourth-round TKO.
