NINETY-two-year-old billionaire apparel 🌠mogul turned producer and philanthropist Sidney Kimmel, and his wife Caroline, 27th-floor unit at the landmarked Ritz-Carlton Residences on Ce🙈ntral Park South.
The apartment sold for around $20 million — down from its original asking price of $2ℱ9.5 million last year.

While the deal will be for less than they had asked, it’s far better than their Malibu estate, which they had bought from Johnny Carson’s widow for $36.5 million in 2007, and listed for $81.5 million. It ultimately sold for $40 million last year.
Sidney and Caroline, who was formerly married to Philadelphia Eagles owner Leonard Tose, are now based in their Beverly Hills mansion — and the couple are busy fulfilling Sidney’s .
Kimmel sold the clothing company he founded, Jones Apparel Group, for $2.2 billion in 2014. He’s also produced high-profile films, from “Crazy Rich Asians” and “9½ Weeks” to “Moneyball” and the “The Kite Runner.”
The landmarked Central Park South building, once known as the St. Moritz Hotel, dates to 1938 and boasts only 11 units. In 2012, disgraced casino mogul Steve Wynn bought the penthouse for a then-record price of $70 million. (He tried to sell it for $150 but there were no takers — it’s still unofficially on the market.)
Kimmel’s full-floor pad, designed by top architect Thierry Despont, has been featured in Architectural Digest. At 6,829 square feet, the two-bedroom, three-full-bath- and three-half-bath unit boasts 1,374 square feet of outdoor space and Central Park views. It opens to a private landing and a foyer with Lalique windows. There’s an antique marble fireplace in the living room, which is connected to a wood-paneled library through a bar.
Other details include French doors that open to a 53-foot terrace overlooking Central Park. The master suite is 2,000 square feet — far bigger than the average New York City apartment.
