Dramatic video shows illegal immigrants streaming across Rio Grande

Fox News cameras captured a group of more than 50 illegal immigrants wading across the Rio Grande into Texas Monday, dramatic confirmation that the border crisis has not abated.

“The Biden administration insists the border is closed,” host over the footage before asking viewers: “Does it feel closed to you?”

Acc🐓ording to reporter Bill Melugin, Monday 𓄧marked the third consecutive day he and his crew had seen a group of illegal immigrants cross the river into the US. Melugin added that most of the migrants he had seen were from Venezuela and Cuba.

After the group was split into families and single adults, Melugin asked part of the family group in Spanish if they had relatives in the U.S.𝄹ಌ The majority of them raised their hands affirmatively.

“Typically what’s happening here is local sheriff’s deputies and state troopers are having to process these migrants when they present themselves at the river here because Border Patrol has been so overwhelmed,” Melugin reported. “They then have to call in Border Patrol, who then show up here and begin processing these migrants.”

As Melugin spoke, more migrants approached the r💞iver bank on the Mexico ꦉside to begin the crossing through calf-high water.

“We hear the administration saying the border is getting under control, we heard DHS Secretary [Alejandro] Mayorkas say on Friday … that ‘the border is closed.’ Local law enforcement here will tell you no, it’s not,” Melugin said. “They’ll tell you this is a crisis. This is something we’ve seen happen every single day.”

The reporter added that Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Del Rio sector has been “extremely hot, averaging more than 700 apprehensions every day the last week,” while Border Patrol reported apprehending more than 5,000 migrants in the last week.

In March, CPB encountered more than 172,331 illegal immigrants at the US-Mexico border, a 70 percent increase over February’s numbers.

The number of unaccompanied minors and family units entering the US is also surging. In March, CBP reported 18,890 encounters with unaccompanied minors, a 100.3 percent increase over the 9,431♒ encounters reported in February.

Also in March, authorities reported 53,623 encounters with family uniꩲts, an eye-popping 173.8 per🅠cent increase from the previous month.
