A fun subplot is hap𒁃pening this Saturday in Baton Rouge.
Ed Or෴geron, coach of LSU, will be facing off against a McNeese State team quarterbacked by his son, Cody Orgeronཧ.
Cody, who clearly knows his father well, expects LSU⭕ to send plenty of p🎶ass rushers after him.
“I really think my dad’s going to tell them to get after me,” Cody Orgeron said, . “It’s no harsh feelings. It’s his job to do it and it’s my job to execute. I expect them to come at me full speed and I’m ready.”
The elder Orgeron affirmed that this aggressive rush would indeed꧙ be the game plan against his son.
“I may tone down a couple words I use because it is my son, but besides that, Cody knows, we’re coming, man,” Ed Orgeron said. “We’re hungry. We have distaste in our belly and we’re coming and McNeese is in our way. He understands that.”
Cody Orgeron, who graduated from McNeese State in 2020 but retained his eligibility, completed 31-of-47 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys’ season-opening loss to West Florida.
LSU is coming off a disappointing 2021 opener against UCLA in which the Bruins, underdogs coming into the game, won 38-27 as Chip Kelly’s team had its way offensively. This continued a trend from last season where the Tigers, who were defending national champions, we꧒nt 5-5 against a full SEC schedule. During the season they gave up 48 points to Ole Miss, 55 to Alabama, 48 to Auburn, 45 to Missouri and 44 toꩲ Mississippi State.
As wild as it is considering LSU won the title ﷽just two seasons ago, Ed Orgeron isౠ on the hot seat if the Tigers do not turn things around this year.
