Revel scooter rider killed by suspected drunk driver in NYC: cops

A Revel scooter rid𝔉er was ki🎀lled when a suspected drunk driver ran him over in Manhattan late Sunday, authorities said. 

Andreas Mar♍ino, 22, was heading north in the First Avenue tun🔴nel, approaching East 48th Street in Midtown around 11:15 p.m. when he lost control and was thrown from his ride, police said. 

Moments𝕴 later, a 44-year-old man driving a Toyota Highlander ran him over, 🎉cops said. 

Marino, of the Upper East Side, was taken with severe 🌳head and body trauma to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

The Highlander driver was taken into custody on suspicion of 🍌driving while intoxicated, police said. Charges are pending.

The fatal incident followed an announcement by Revel and the city Department of Transportation that users of the shared mopeds are no longer permitted to ride over the Queensboro and Manhattan bridges.

Revel also eliminated the use of its mopeds between midnight to 5 a.m. — times when its data showed aඣ higher rate of crashes.

Three riders, including CBS reporter Nina Kapur, died during the summer of 2020 after losing control while on Revel mopeds.

The fatalities prompted the company to close service in the city that July before returning in late August, adding a required 20-minute safety test and mandatory selfie to pr♛ove each rider is𝔍 wearing a helmet.

Multiple people have also come forward with claims that they were injured while using the scooter-sharing service.
