Penn State cancels event with Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes over ‘threats of violence’
Penn State featuring Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes on Monday night due to the “threat of escalating violence” amid ongoing protests.
The school released a statement about the canceled event, hosted by the student organization Uncensored America, and urged students to avoid the building scheduled to host the event.

“Due to the threat of escalating violence associated with tonight’s event, Penn State University Police determined that it was necessary to cancel the speaking event in the interest of campus safety,” the statement read. “Demonstrations regrettably turned violent.”
The school reiterated that the views of the speakers were “abhorrent and do not align with the values of Penn State” and encouraged peaceful protests.
State Police could be seen protecting the building, according to a video posted by the college paper.

The event with McInnes and BlazeTV contributor Alex Stein was billed as a comedy show.
McInnes is the founder of the far-right group known for causing violence and promoting misogynistic and fascist ideologies.
