Megyn Kelly slams Elizabeth Holmes for getting pregnant to ‘try to get less prison time’: ‘Baby won’t have a mom’

Megyn Kelly criticized convicted fraudster Elizabeth Holmes for getting pregnant with her second child as a ploy to come off more sympathetic to the judge in hopes of getting a more lenient prison term.

“I hate to agree with the Twitter mob,” Kelly said on her SiriusXM podcast Monday when discussing Holmes’ 11-year prison sentence that was handed down by a federal judge in California on Friday. “They’re angry about the pregnancy, suggesting she did that [on purpose].”

The 38-year-old Holmes sported a noticeable baby bump at her sentencing, where she was ordered to report to prison next April. It is not clear when her due date is. The child was conceived after the Theranos founder was convicted on four counts💖 of fraud in January,

“She did that for sympathy,” Kelly said. “She did that intentionally on the gamble that the judge would say, ‘I won’t throw the book at you for the sake of the child.'”

“Now that child is going to be without its mother for the first 11 years of his or her life,” Kelly added.

Holmes’ legal team had asked for a lighter sentence of 18 months’ house arrest despite federal guidelines of 11 to 14 years for duping investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars.

“Think about that,” Kelly told her guest, author Vivek Ramaswamy. “You know that you’re likely to go to prison [and] you know that the odds of getting 18 months’ house arrest are nil.”

“No one’s going to get that who committed these crimes and got convicted of them,” Kelly continued. “I just don’t understand. You get pregnant anyway?”

“I, too, feel angry about it,” Kelly added. “I don’t want to presume the motives, but the whole situation is a disaster.”

The Post has sought comment from Holmes’ attorney.

Holmes informed the court of her first pregnancy in March of last year, according to court papers . The pregnancy briefly delayed the trial as the judge granted Holmes’ request for a postponement to accommodate the birth.

The trial h🎶adꦫ already been rescheduled three other times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Holmes garner🌜ed national fame and several high-profile investors after pitching a product that was said to be able to diagnose health problems through the use of an at-home blood testing technology made possible through a fingerܫ prick.

But her purported claims were all a lie.

“This case is so troubling on so ꦛmany levels,” US District Judge Edward Davila said during the ꦫsentencing hearing.

“What was it that causedꦐ Ms. Holmes to make the decisions she did? Was there a loss of a moral compass?”
