Matthew Stafford tells his wife, Kelly, he’s not retiring from NFL

Matthew Stafford isn’t going anywhere.

The Rams quarterback, 34, confirmed Tuesday on wife that he’s not retiring from the NFL following recent chatter about his playing future amid an injury-plagued campaign.

“A lot of people are asking this, which I already know the answer to, but retirement. Are you retiring?” Kelly asked to which Stafford replied,” No.”

Stafford signed a four-year, $160 million extension with the Rams in March, one month after winning the Super Bowl. Though the former Lions quarterback opened the 2022 regular season for Los Angeles, he missed time in November after entering concussion protocol twice. Stafford has since been♋ sidelined due to a spinal cord co♕ntusion.

The injuries Stafford sustained that the former first-overall pick could potentially call it a career. When the father of four does decide to reti𒈔re, football may not be far from his mind, ho🐠wever.

“When you do decide to retire, I feel like you go back and forth on this, but there is part of you that wants to be an announcer or do something with football, right?” Kelly said.

Stafford agreed, stating, “Yeah, something in football, I don’t know that I would have to be the medium of TV, but I don’t know.”

In nine games 🗹this season, Stafford has thrown for 2,087 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

As for the Rams, who recently added former Panthers quarterback✨ Baker Mayfiꦰeld, they officially fell out of playoff c♏ontention Mondayꦡ with a 24-12 loss to the Packers.
