Lying NY Rep. George Santos announces 2024 re-election bid

Rep. George Santos, the lying Long Island Republican who hoodwinked voters into sending him to Congress by wildly fabricating his resume, told The Post on Monday he will seek re-election in 2024.

“It’s a beautiful day here in Washington, DC. It’s a great day to be an American. It’s a great day to be a Republican, and it’s a great day to announce re-election,” the 34-year-old congressman said to a Post photographer as the pair and a Santos aide walked on a street near the US Capitol.

Santos then broke into laughter after officially making his announcement — with only the photog and aide around — so as not to use his office for political activity.

“I am proudly announcing my bid for re-election for #NY03,” . “This is about TAKING BACK our country and restoring greatness back to New York.”

The disgraced representative declared his bid about 17 months ahead of the next congressional election because he believes he can raise $500,000 to $750,000 in the meantime, a source clo✅se to the lawmaker has told The Post.

The pol could use the dough. He refunded individual donors a total of $8,353 between Jan. 1 and March 31 — or significantly more than the $5,333 he took in, according to campaign finance records .

He reportedly still has $25,096 in his coffers.

Lawmakers in both parties have called on Santos to step down after he admitted to lying about being Jewish, working for Goldman Sachs and Citigroup and attending and graduating from Baruch College — where he claimed he was a volleyball star.

Santos also lied about his grandparents escaping the Nazi Holocaust, falsely claimed that his mother was killed in the 9/11 attacks and went for years by the faꦰke name Anthony🧔 Devolder.

Footage has also emerged of the openly gay lawmaker performing in drag in Brazil, where Santos was accused of check fraud in a 2008 case in which he recently copped to a plea deal with prosecutors.

Santos is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for alleged unlawful campaign activity, violations of federal conflict-of-interest laws and sexual misconduct against an ex-staffer.

Santos, who has long used the fake name Anthony Devolder, performed in drag under the moniker Kitara Ravache in 2008.

Federal prosecutors and the Federal Election Commission are also probing the murky origins of 💫$700,000 in personal loans that Santos made to his 2022 campaign, along with his alleged apparent habitual falsification of campaign expenses.

Albany and Nassau County prosecutors are also probing the lawmaker’s numerous fabrications, after he flipped New York’s North Shore 3rd Congressional District to red.

Santos voluntarily stepped down from his committee assignments amid outrage over his lies in January. A poll conducted at the time in his district — which includes a small part of Queens — found that 78% of voters thought he should resign.

The Republican still mainℱtains the tepid support of GOP House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who has not called for his removal ahead of the results of the investigations.
